Don’t let ChatGPT replace you, do this instead

ChatGPT is a chatbot launched by OpenAI in November 2022. It is built on top of OpenAI’s GPT-3.5 family of large language models, and is fine-tuned with both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. It has widely become popular among us and most of us are concerned about losing our job or it replacing us.

Well, I would line out some useful areas you could use ChatGPT to make it a tool instead of it making us a tool. On the big picture, it is still a tool that we could use to improve our daily lives. Instead of never evolving to use it for getting things done much faster and efficient, our concerns will most likely become our destiny.

Let’s take a look at some of the uses of ChatGPT:

Research:

If you’ve been using google, you might’ve been used to digging and finding information from different websites. If you’ve been an essay, writing a story or doing a report based on a topic, you can use ChatGPT to save hundreds of hours of scrolling through different pages. It also explains complex topics into a much simpler, understandable words. However, one thing you could take in note is that it is still in it’s early stages, so unintended behaviour is expected.

This will help you save so much time learning about a topic and actually get to learn in a much more simpler way.

Coding:

If you’re a software developer, you’ve been familiar with writing code from the start of a project by writing boilerplate code and setup. Now, you can just ask ChatGPT to setup a project where you can also specify the language, framework and dependencies that you would like to use. This could faster your development, rather than setting up by yourself.

Also, the next big part of software development is debugging code. We’re all familiar with the process of opening up Stackoverflow to find answers, visiting different forums and the limitless amount of tabs you find in your browser. With ChatGPT, you can provide your code, it’s context and your problem and it will help you with it. The one thing I really love about it is that it’s like a pair programmer and a really supportive partner to code with.

In short, ChatGPT is an assistant that can help you with anything that deals with textual data. It can provide you with the information you need, the problem you need help with, the article you want to write and endless other options out there….

Who knows what will happen with the next generation of these AI bots?
